Dr. Ajij Dildar Sayyad

Dean Academics

Associate Professor, Electronics and Computer Engineering

I pleasantly welcome you to Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT), Aurangabad. Higher education in India is undergoing a remarkable transformation. MIT received the esteemed autonomous status from the year 2021-22. The emphasis is on Outcome based education (OBE), a student-cantered instruction model that focuses on measuring student performance through outcomes.

Outcome-based education or OBE is a student-centric academic model that bases each part of an academic system around goals (outcomes). By the end of the academic semester, each student should have achieved the goal. The OBE maps & measures students’ performance at every step. The OBE model aims to maximize student learning outcomes by developing their knowledge, skills and attitude. MIT has effectively implemented OBE throughout our curriculum and believe in continuous improvement of the academic endeavours.

We fully understand the vital importance of imparting communication and life skills to our students. Domain skills are complemented with soft skills and this together with knowledge of a foreign language gives our students an edge in the domestic and global market.

The implementation of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) added a new dimension to academics for the students. CBCS provided a learning platform wherein the student or knowledge seeker has the flexibility to choose their course from a list of elective, core and soft skill courses. This is a student-centric approach to learning or acquiring higher education. It is also helpful in building favourable learning environment, as everyone is supposed to take part in learning process as per their ability and competency. The CBCS provides comfort for slow learners as much as it does for fast learners.

Looking to Global Scenario, Engineering students should have knowledge of courses from other disciplines and some advanced courses of their respective discipline in which they are perusing the degree. Considering this, institute has taken an initiative in academics from year 2019-20. Honours and Minor and Scheme is introduced in academics.

Rapid developments in ideas of knowledge, the role of educational technologies and the needs of students suggest that innovation is important in higher education. Using innovative methods of teaching is a crucial skill for teachers and education staff. Scientific research has shown that innovative teaching methods and approaches can significantly enhance the student learning process. At our institute, number of pedagogical methods and instructional techniques are applied. Some of these are problem focussed and project-based learning. Strong academic system, facilitated by qualified faculty from premier institutions, supported by ICT and state-of-the-art infrastructure, make the education process an enjoyable journey for students.

During COVID-19 pandemic situation, education community faced numerous challenges across the globe. Due to this entire education system shifted from its traditional classroom teaching to online teaching.

Finally, ever since the institute has received an autonomous status, it is ensured that a significant number of amendments have been made in the curriculum in developing a word-class curriculum and a stimulating learning environment as well. Institute is committed to scholarly excellence and student success.

It would be my pleasure to cordially invite all of you to grab the opportunities in intensifying your knowledge horizon and elevating your careers to explore our institute further through a visit to campus.
