Dear Students, I welcome you all to Maharashtra Institute of Technology (An Autonomous Institute) popularly known as MIT.
The parent trust of Maharashtra Institute of Technology is Gramaudyogik Shikshan Mandal founded by the freedom fighter Late Shri. Anandraoji Deshmukh. The MIT has grown from strength to strength under the visionary leadership of President G.S. Mandal, Prof. Dr. Y.A. Kawade. MIT is now taking a great shape in the form a leading institute in the state of Maharashtra with the dynamism provided by Director General of MIT, Prof. Munish Sharma.
Maharashtra Institute of Technology is accredited with grade “A” by NAAC i.e. National Assessment and Accreditation Council and recently conferred with Autonomous Status by University Grants Commission (UGC) and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University.
At Maharashtra Institute of Technology we offer variety of undergraduate courses such as B.Tech. in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Plastic & Polymer Engineering, Agricultural Engineering and recently introduced B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Post Graduate Courses like MBA, M. Tech. ( Mechanical Engineering ), M. Tech. (Computer Science Technology ), M. Tech.( Mechanical Engineering ) and M. Tech. ( Food Processing Technology ). We also offer Ph.D programs in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. We have research centers approved by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University for carrying out research in these disciplines. The institute also offers variety of Vocational Courses like B.Voc. in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and B.Voc. in Food Processing.
Under Autonomous status we have the freedom to offer the curriculum which is developed by taking inputs from industry and all other stake holders that can be updated frequently as per the requirements of industry and society. Students can have Honors degree in their own discipline of study or minor degree from some other discipline, as per their interest in addition to their major degree.
They will also have the choice to choose from the open electives offered by other disciplines available in the institute so as to ensure their all round development as an engineer.
Good Infrastructure is the key to success of any organization. The institute has got adequate classrooms, state of the art laboratories, seminar halls, world class library with ample books & national and international journals, boys hostels & girls hostels, canteen, bank with ATM facility, auditorium and play ground and center of excellences like MIT Centre for Analytical Research & Studies (MIT-CARS), MIT- Center for Industry Relevance in Polymer Science and Technology (M-CIP), Centre for Advanced Materials Research and Technology (CAMRT). Having industry scale laboratories on campus is unique feature of this institute.
As faculty plays important role in the overall development of the students, the development of faculty itself is a crucial task and is given due importance right from the inception of this institution. I am proud to say that our strength is our highly qualified and dedicated faculty with strong commitment towards nurturing young minds with proper guidance.
The special feature of B. Tech courses offered by Maharashtra Institute of Technology is its in-plant training for the entire one semester in final year. During their eighth semester, students are placed in reputed national and international industries for their in-plant training and by the end of this training most of them are offered a job by the industry in which they got the training. The training and placement department extends full assistance, so that most of the students get selected through campus interviews in industries of repute.
Consistently excellent results and good placements are reasons for getting the flow of very good students from the region and various parts of the state and country and also few students from abroad. We consider it as an acknowledgement of our continuous efforts towards providing quality education to our students.
At MIT we strive to create academic environment where students are continuously challenged and motivated to do their best not only in academics but also in co-curricular & extracurricular activities. I am pleased to welcome you all to Maharashtra Institute of Technology widely known as MIT, MIT was established under the umbrella of the trust Gramaudyogik Shikshan Mandal (GSM). GSM was founded by the great visionary freedom fighter Late Shri. Anandraoji Deshmukh.
Over the years, right from its inception, MIT has been growing from strength to strength under the visionary leadership of President G. S. Mandal, Prof. Dr. Y. A. Kawade. He was a professor at Government College of Engineering prior to the establishment of the institute. For the last ten years, MIT has now taken great shape in the form of a leading institute in the State of Maharashtra under the prolific leadership of Director General of MIT, Prof. Munish Sharma. The institute offers various courses such as B. Tech in Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, Computer Science and Design, Agriculture Engineering and Plastic and Polymer Engineering.
The institute also offers M. Tech courses such as Food Processing Technology, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Embedded systems, Structural Engineering, Computer Science & Technology and Electrical Drives & Control. Moreover, the research center for Ph.D. research in Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electronics Engineering adds to the credentials of the institute. The courses of B.Tech in Agriculture Engineering and MTech (Food Processing Technology) and Master of Computer Application (MCA) are providing different flavors to the learning culture of institute. The institute provides state of the art laboratories in all departments and CoEs in Automation and Mechatronics, Computer Aided Engineering, Materials and Metallurgy, Green Energy, and Robotic Machining facilities. Highly qualified and dedicated teachers from reputed Universities and Institutes are a special strength of MIT. Besides, MIT also offers skill development courses under the umbrella Vocational courses. Bachelor of Vocation in Software Development, Interior Design, Food Technology, Refrigeration and Air conditioning, and AI & Robotics are courses being offered at MIT.
We believe that merely acquiring a degree will not be enough in the rapidly changing technological world. We do not expect our students to limit themselves to the academic requirements of the qualifying degree and try to inculcate the attribute of lifelong learning by undergoing varied experiences through co-curricular activities such as SAE Baja, Robocon, ASME, IEEE chapters and industry-based projects. Moreover, they also sharpen themselves through art and sports related activities. On behalf of all teaching and non-teaching staff members and all other students, I welcome you to the MIT family. We all will try our best to mentor you to realize your goals and encourage you to follow the right path in the light of appropriate values. At the beginning of your journey of engineering education, I would like to appeal to you to set your goals, short and long term, and follow them with perseverance and willpower.
