Golden Jubilee Lecture Series- Mr. Umesh Dashrathi, Prominent Industrialist , 30 May 2025

Toady at another session of Golden Jubilee Lecture Series, the renowned entrepreneur Mr Umesh Dashrathi addressed the gathering at Anand Hall, MIT CSN. He was welcomed by our Hon’ble President, Gramaudyogik Shikshan Mandal (GSM) Dr Y. A. Kawade and others and was formally honoured by Dr Kodeeswara Prabu P, Principal of MIT Nursing College.

Mr Umesh Dashrathi spoke on ‘Viksit Bharat and the Contribution of Technical Education to it.’ Before talking on the subject, he appreciated and admired the growth of GSM in last 50 years. He emphasised on the importance of creativity, accuracy and experimentation in technical field of studies. He quoted the example of Thomas Alva Edison who experimented many times before developing the first commercially practical incandescent lightbulb. He lauded the amount of industry interaction of MITians and urged all to further focus on project-based learning.

He said, “Manufacturing will be the major source of income in India very soon, and graduates from all branches of Engineering will be in huge demand.” He also explained the importance of civil, mechanical and electrical engineers in building the infrastructure, power projects and transportation network in India.

Speaking on holistic education, he appealed to the parents of students to consider likings, aptitude and hobbies of younger generation while assisting them in their career choices. He concluded by saying, “Develop yourself. If you develop yourself, the country will automatically progress.”
