MAHARASHTRA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

The Agricultural Engineering Department was established in the year 2001 as a specialised and special-purpose engineering application branch in the field of modern Indian agricultural operations. This is one of the high- value asset and commercially operating self-sustainable departments in the Institute which was approved by the Department of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Maharashtra, AICTE New Delhi and affiliated to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. It nurtures the students to become a professional agricultural and food engineer who will be addressing issues of ethical and social impacts of agricultural engineering. Department is consistently working through research & demonstration of innovative technologies of the verticals of soil-water conservation-irrigation-processing & harvesting technology for agriculture produce-farm power & mechanization-IoT-Controlled farming-food linkages to achieve the targets of doubling the farm income and standardization of living of farming dependent stakeholders and youth.

Department supports and participates in National Agriculture development program & Sustainable agriculture program of India. Department has its own state-of-Art Microenterprise established in the year 2007 namely MIT-CARS (https://cars.mit.asia).MIT-CARS is one of the pioneered self-sustainable successful models among the Indian Academic & Research Institution which is recognized by Department of Agriculture, Central Pollution Control Board and accredited with NABL, ISO, OHSAS, DISR. It supports the research work of Research scholars/scientists/teachers, ICAR organizations, Government, and private industries in the sector of Agriculture-Food-Environment-Pharma-Biotechnology-Organic farming. The department is actively involved in entrepreneurship development & mentorship programs. It has undertaken funded research and consultancy projects from DST, BIRAC, MOFPI, and the Department of Agriculture. The department is having mobile soil laboratory financed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India which is actively working by students for extension activities in rural areas.

Program. Duration Intake
B. Tech in Agricultural Engineering 4 Years 30

Dear Students,

Agriculture is the backbone of India, and which generates direct and indirect opportunities of employment. With the recent alignment of Indian scenario i.e., “Sustainable Agriculture” is possible only through agricultural mechanization, power irrigation system, precision agriculture, value addition of products, use of renewable energy sources. Considering all these required expectations by India’s growing population hunger, we added all these technologies practically. Commercially in our four-year sandwich curriculum, there are having objectives to create a great quality force i.e. “Bachelor of Technology in Agricultural Engineering and Master of Technology in Food Processing Technology” to accept such challenge.
