On 4th and 5th April,2014 IPI Student Chapter and Department of Plastics and Polymer Engineering,MIT, Aurangabad hosted POLYXPLORE’14, a National Symposium with the theme “Polyplast Advanced Technology.
At the inaugural session on 4th April, 2014, the Convener, IPI Student Chapter, MIT, Aurangabad Ms.Suranjana Mandal gave a brief summary of the function.The event was inaugurated by Dr.V.V.Rahkunde, President(HR) Garware Polyester Limited, Aurangabad. He emphasized on the need of personality development and Communication skills, importance of cocurricular activities in developing a team management .
The guest of honour was Mr.Pankaj Shah,Chairman ,IPI,Mumbai Chapter. He highlighted on the demand and supply scenario of plastics. He also emphasized on the need of the growing demand for plastics.IPI Student Chapter nominee Mr.Raj Chawda gave an overview of the symposium. Dr.Santosh Bhosle, Chairman, Polyxplore-14 and Principal, Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Aurangabad encouraged the students for making this event successful.
Prof. Munish Sharma,Director General, MIT, Aurangabad, presided over the function and appreciated the hard work of the students as well as their creativity. Dr.C.L.Gogte, Principal, Marathwada Institute of Technology, Aurangabad was also present on this occasion. Dr.S.Radhakrishnan, Key note speaker of the function, highlighted on “Ever Green Materials from Industry”. He emphasized on environmental aspects of polymers by using 4R`s ieReduce, Recycle, Reuse and Recover.
An open interaction session was organized for the students. The panel for interaction comprised of Mr.Sameer Joshi, Chairman, Career and Placement Cell, IPI, Dr.Shashank Mhaske, Secretary, IPI Mumbai Chapter and Mr.Sunil Kokhrale, Treasurer, IPI Pune Chapter.Students cleared their doubts regarding future in plastics industry, future developments in plastics and Career prospects.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr.Badal Panchal, IPI Student nominee.
On 5th April ,2014 the key note speaker was Dr.N.C.Saha, Director,Indian Institute of Packaging, Mumbai .He enlightened the audience with the role of various packaging materials, their market scenario. The next guest was Dr. Nitin Joshi, DGM, Reliance Industries Ltd, Mumbai. He briefed about the various processing techniques used for manufacturing plastics.
There were twenty paper presentations, 22 poster presentations, whereas Scholastic Penthathlon event included fun games like logo quiz, aptitude test, click a piche, treasure hunt. In all there were nearly 300 participants. The prizes were sponsored by IPI, Mumbai. For paper presentation in Diploma and PG category,the best paper was awarded with a cash prize of Rs.2500/- each. In UG category First prize was of Rs.2500/-,Second prize was of Rs.2000/-, Third prize was of Rs.1500/-.
For poster presentation in UG and Diploma category First prize was of Rs.2500/-,Second prize was of Rs.2000/-,Third prize was of Rs.1500/- respectively. Also a tenth standard student was awarded with a special prize of Rs.1500/- in poster presentation. All the prize winners were also presented with momentoes and gift vouchers of Rs. 5000/- from Frameboxx, Aurangabad.
