Learning by Doing - Industrial Experience @ MIT
When the industry and society want you to be career-ready after college, you need to have experience working on real machines. MIT has the same facilities that the industries use in their laboratories for production and research. The faculty at our facilities bring decades of industry expertise to the campus. When trained in such an environment, students are ready and productive from day one -to join a firm or start their business.
State of the art world-class industry scale training facilities at MIT:
- Automation & Mechatronics by Siemens Germany
- Robotics by Kuka Germany
- 3 D Printing by Stratasys USA
- Injection molding by Milacron USA/India
- Machining center by Bharat Fritz Werner Germany/India
- Civil and structural non-destructive testing instruments from Proceq SA of Switzerland
- NABL accredited analytical & environmental testing laboratory with instruments from Shimadzu Japan
- Agriculture research & development center with Israeli setup
- Center for advanced materials research with instruments from the Malvern United Kingdom
- Nano Technology Electrospray by Spraybase Ireland
Engineering Exploration
The first-year students begin with engineering exploration, design thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and building products.
Expert Interaction
Students interact with subject matter experts while graduating, which helps them connect theory with practice.
Team Spirit
Students are encouraged to work in teams to develop a deeper understanding of concepts and benefit from peer to peer learning.
Students' Projects
MIT provides many opportunities for students to solve real world problems faced by the industry and community. MIT students have developed solutions, built products and delivered value. Some of these projects are results of the collaboration between MIT and its industry and institutional partners like GIZ, MASSIA, CMIA. The students also work on community projects as a part of Unnat Maharashtra and Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan programs.
The developed system allows only authorized operator to access the machine and records operator wise working time for each machine.
This project deals with the calibration of dimension of the tool. The tool is to be placed inside the hardware; output is displayed on the screen.
This project is designed to ensure regrinding of press tools at specified frequency to avoid rework.
Placements at MIT
MIT provides support to students find right placement opportunities. These include campus interviews and placements, internships, on job training, in-plant training etc.
Life@MIT
At MIT, we take the utmost care in ensuring our students and faculty have the best experience possible. We have various clubs, activities, and events to keep our students and faculty engaged, and excited.
Learning and Teaching at MIT
MIT places special emphasis on experimenting with new tools and methods of teaching-learning and implementing experiential learning paradigm. Flipped classroom model, digital classroom, incorporating MOOC content are its current initiatives.
The Engineering Exploration initiative is one such initiative which has significantly improved learning outcome for students. At the core of this program are design thinking, teamwork, problem definition, and solution development. It integrates elements from different engineering disciplines making it a truly interdisciplinary approach and a fully functional tinkering lab facilitates conversion of ideas into products.
Faculty @ MIT
MIT has nearly 1000 staff members to guide students. Many MIT staff have completed their Post-graduation and doctorate (Ph.D.) from national and international premier institutions. The number of Ph.D. staff is about 80. MIT faculty upgrades their domain and pedagogy skills continuously through workshops, training programs, and interaction with teachers’ global community. MIT faculty engaged in R&D have filed many patents and have many publications to their credit.
